Inspired by several coaches on the NCC (New Coach Connection) email list, I am happy to answer a need for an outline to capture your workshop timing.
TIPS: Use the links below to download a one-page or 3-page version of a template I use to create my speaking outline for workshops of any length. I selected 3 examples to offer. Click on the hyperlinks to download these files.
- 2 one-page outlines I use for a 1-1.5-hour presentation
- a 3-page outline for a workshop I delivered with 3 segments over 3 hours
I love keeping the topics and notes to myself as minimal as possible. I use the timing estimates and clock times to help me stay on track. When I have my audience doing an activity, I can easily calculate if I need to speed up or not. I hold this sheet in my left hand and move my thumb down the page to my next topic and then look up and speak.
NOTE: These documents are created in MS Word and are tables. They can get kinda funky when you change the formatting, so be watchful. If you format a line of text to change the font style, size or color, you may see the entire table change, too. Don't panic! Just click "undo" or type a Ctrl + Z and Word will undo all the unintended changes and will keep the one you want. The voice of experience.
If you are not particularly skilled at tables, I suggest editing out my text and typing into the same rows/columns (cells). If you want to add rows, I suggest you copy existing rows in pairs to keep the background shading in tact alternating a light grey row with a white one. Then just type over my text.
I decided to leave my content in these outlines in case it somehow inspires you! Yes, much of this is proprietary and I don't believe in competition! We are all connected. What I DO believe and teach in "How to Love Speaking" is that your material must be authentically aligned with who you are, what you believe and what is honest.
Have fun and go forth to inspire the target audience that will ONLY learn your content by hearing it come from you! You are like a dog whistle that only your intended audience can hear.
